WASHINGTON — President Trump will be leaving Walter Reed National Military Medical Center after a three-day stay at the Maryland hospital, he announced in a tweet.

“I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good!” he wrote on Monday afternoon.

“Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!” he went on.

Trump was helicoptered to the hospital on Friday afternoon after being diagnosed with the disease in the early hours of Friday, when doctors became concerned by his dropping oxygen levels and spiking temperature, according to multiple reports.

Physicians at Walter Reed began administering the president a variety of therapies, including an experimental cocktail of drugs, and have been impressed by his progress.

The commander-in-chief sought to allay fears about his condition by posting regular video updates in which he thanked supporters for their well wishes and ruminated on how much he had learned about the virus, which has killed 210,000 Americans.

On Sunday evening, he also took a brief joyride outside the hospital to thank a large crowd of Trump voters who gathered over the weekend, a move that was criticized for unnecessarily exposing his Secret Service agents.

The first lady, who also tested positive for the disease, has been experiencing mild symptoms and has been recovering in quarantine in the White House residence.

A wave of coronavirus cases has since been confirmed at the White House, including press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who tested positive on Monday and will now enter isolation.
