#iHeartRadio Music Awards: Taylor Swift Honored With Innovator Award, Harry Styles Among Top Winners

Taylor Swift and Harry Styles were among the big winners at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards Monday night, with Swift taking home song of the year for “Anti-Hero,” and Styles being named artist of the year.

Swift also received the Innovator Award for her impact globally to pop culture. According to iHeartRadio, the Grammy-winning artist has not only had a successful career but has been an “advocate for women’s rights and the LGBTQ+ community, using her music and platform to inspire young people to use their voting power.”

After the award was presented by Phoebe Bridgers, Swift was quick to admit that she felt “flattered” to receive the award.

While reflecting on her career, Swift said she always tried to “make the right decision” for herself at the time “whether or not it had ever been successfully done before.” Though oftentimes in the industry many “want an example of something working before,” Swift noted that the “coolest ideas or moves or choices are the new ones, ones that set a new precedent.”

After thanking her fans for always supporting her in her career decisions whether it be “switching genres or rerecording all of my old music,” she emphasized, “But I do want to say the thing with these exciting nights and moments and specifically this award that i’m so luck to have gotten is they’re shining a light on the choices I made that worked out.”

“The hundreds or thousands of dumb ideas that I’ve had are what led me to my good ideas,” Swift said. She later encouraged everyone to “give yourself permission to fail.” “I try as hard as I can not to fail because it’s embarrassing but I do give myself permission to and you should too. So go easy on yourself,” she said before later quipping, “Make the right choices that make sense for you and someone one day might think you’re innovative.”

During the ceremony, Pink also received the Icon Award for “her impact on pop culture, longevity and continued relevance as a touring and radio force with a loyal fan base worldwide.”

Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Keith Urban, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Muni Long, Cody Johnson and Coldplay were among the performers to hit the stage Monday night.

The 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards, hosted by Lenny Kravitz, aired live from Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre.
