#Iconic Rockefeller Center skating rink opens for season

At least this holiday season tradition wasn’t put on ice!

The Rockefeller Center skating rink opened Saturday, and skaters glided out to practice their moves.

In order to maintain social distancing, the rink’s capacity will be limited and skaters, who must wear masks, allowed to enter for 50 minutes at a time.

The rink debuted on Christmas Day in 1936 and taking a turn on the ice, or just watching the skaters, has become a holiday season ritual for New Yorkers and tourists.

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, which is under wraps as decorations go up, will be lighted on Dec. 2.
