#’iCarly’: Which Original Stars Are Returning?

iCarly fans got the surprise of a lifetime when Paramount+ announced plans for a revival series featuring the original cast.

But the news comes with a shred of disappointment for some who used to watch the Nickelodeon comedy because not every star will be back. The series which ran for six seasons from 2007 to 2012 will see the return of three cast members in the revival.

Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress are the stars reportedly confirmed to return. Kress even added to the excitement by sharing a headline announcing the news on Instagram, captioning it, “a little something to look forward to in 2021.”

While no premiere date has been announced, Kress’ remark does imply that production will begin sometime in the new year. Cosgrove who portrays titular character Carly Shay will make her triumphant return with Kress who plays bestie and ex-boyfriend Freddie Benson. Trainor will reprise his role as Carly’s older brother Spencer.

So, who is missing? Jennette McCurdy who plays Sam Puckett, best friend to Carly and part of the show’s main trio. The actress isn’t among the stars billed to return, but that doesn’t mean she won’t ever reunite with her onscreen pals. Noah Munck who portrays friend Gibby is notably absent from the cast, but perhaps some additions are on the horizon?

Since the show is in its early stages, there’s always a chance the actress could return to the show, but in the meantime fans should temper their expectations.  Stay tuned for updates as the revival continues to come together.
