“Hurricane Ian rips hole in side of Universal’s Jurassic theme park in Orlando”
Hurricane Ian has ripped a massive hole in the side of Universal Orlando’s Jurassic Park River Adventure attraction in Orlando.
Photos posted to Twitter Thursday show severe damage to the side of the theme park as the storm whipped the city with heavy winds and rain.
The road leading into a Double Tree hotel attached to Universal Studios was also severely flooded with parked cars nearly submerged in water, News 13 also reported Thursday.
While Ian has weakened while traveling across Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis warned that the storm was still inundating several counties — including Orange County in Orlando.
Both Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort said Tuesday that they would shutter this week as Ian approached as a Category 5 hurricane.
Hotels around the parks remain at or near capacity and officials have advised occupants to shelter in place as the storm continues to rage.
“Our hotels will remain operational as they focus on taking care of our guests,” Universal tweeted Wednesday.
Footage from other areas in Orlando showed massive flooding, as emergency crews scrambled to rescue drivers stranded in their homes and cars.
