#Human Rights Campaign removes Alphonso David from staff directory minutes after firing

The Human Rights Campaign removed Alphonso David from its staff directory just minutes after announcing the organization’s former president had been fired.

In David’s place, HRC, the nation’s largest LGBTQ advocacy group, listed Joni Madison as its interim president on their website.

David was canned in a vote by the HRC and HRC Foundation Boards of Directors Monday night after his role assisting ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s attempts at damage control amid a sexual harassment scandal, which was detailed in State Attorney General Letitia James’s blockbuster Aug. 3 report.

The AG report revealed David released a copy of Cuomo-accuser Lindsey Boylan’s personnel files when asked to do so by former top secretary of state, Melissa DeRosa.

David was no longer working for the Cuomo administration at the time.

“As outlined in the New York Attorney General report, Mr. David engaged in a number of activities in December 2020, while HRC President, to assist Governor Cuomo’s team in responding to allegations by Ms. Boylan of sexual harassment,” Morgan Cox and Jodie Patterson, Human Rights Campaign and Foundation Board Chairs, said in a statement announcing David’s outster.

“This conduct in assisting Governor Cuomo’s team, while president of HRC, was in violation of HRC’s Conflict of Interest policy and the mission of HRC,” the statement said.
