Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni is based on the Shogakukan-published manga by Nao Iwamoto, which ran from 2014 to 2016 in Monthly Flowers and has one tankoubon volume published under the Flower Comics label. The premise involves two constantly bickering neighboring countries that eventually go to war, causing God to intervene. Country A is told to offer its most beautiful girl as a bride, while Country B is told to send its wisest young man as a groom. In the midst of this, the princess of Country A has a chance meeting with a youth from Country B.

The movie’s staff includes Kotono Watanabe (BTOOM!) as director, Fumi Tsubota (Waccha PriMagi! and Hugtto! Pretty Cure series composer) as scriptwriter, and Mitsuki Masuhara (Ace of Diamond and Shirokuma Cafe director) as animation supervisor. Madhouse is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the main cast includes Kento Kaku as Naranbayar and Minami Hamabe as Sarah.
