The Issue: President Biden’s call for national unity during his inauguration address on Wednesday.

I didn’t vote for President Biden. In fact, I’m sorry that President Donald Trump was denied a second term (“Joe’s ‘Unite’ To Remember,” Jan. 21).

Unlike the partisans on the other side, however, who spent four years obsessed with their seething hatred of Trump, I do not hate Biden.

I have to say that he is missing chance after chance to show the rest of us that we are wrong in assuming that he is a captive of the radicals in his party.

Why was he in such a hurry to scuttle the 1776 Project, which sought only to unify all Americans in love for their traditions and history?

In the same way, Biden was given a fast ball right down the middle with the Antifa attacks this week that he could have hit out of the ballpark. He could easily have denounced them and gotten plaudits for his evenhandedness, but chose silence in obedience to — or in fear of — his rabid left flank. You’re blowing it, Joe.

I’m sorry, but color me skeptical about the possibility of Biden building any bridges (“Bridge Builder,” John Podhoretz, PostOpinion, Jan. 21).

He stepped on his own message several times during his speech, implying that Trump supporters are white nationalists or systemically racist or some other such left-over Obama baloney.

No, we are all in for a dark, sad time with this guy — cognitively impaired and egged on by his handlers.

Let’s face facts: Biden is a corrupt do-nothing who will be lucky to last one year in office, let alone four. Then we’ll have the pleasure of dealing with a President Kamala Harris.

I hope I’m wrong, but the tea leaves indicate otherwise.

Biden pledges to be the person for all Americans. Well, that is a nice statement.

These words will make neither Democrat nor Republican feel any better. We are looking for some concrete facts or solid promises. So far, our president already nullified more than a dozen actions that Democrats disliked.

That is fair. He won. However, if he wants to please the 74 million Trump voters, he will have to appease them as well. How about promising to keep the Supreme Court as it is, keep the First and Second Amendments as they are, and how about containing refugees until we are rid of COVID-19? Do that, and we will be satisfied.

At his inauguration, Biden’s major focus appeared to be unity.

At one point in his speech, he stated: “Without unity, there is no peace.” What exactly that means can be questioned.

Does it mean everyone singing “Kumbaya” with each other, or does it mean bringing back civility with those we disagree to our discourse?

I found it unfortunate when I read that the cancel culture is out to get Mike Lindell, the founder of the My Pillow company.

It would seem if we truly are to unite, agendas like the cancel culture have little role to play. It does nothing except divide segments of our population from each other.

Peace doesn’t really come through unity as much as it comes through acceptance of diversity and differing opinions.

After four-plus years of going against Trump’s every move, the Democrats are calling for unity.

The only unity they want is if it’s on their terms. If not they will claim racism or other false narratives.

When will they label Antifa a terrorist group? When will they protect the people of these cities that are being taken over by these thugs?

Biden has stated that he will be a president for all Americans. He wants to bring us together.

If he wants to gain the support of our country’s Republican voters, he would be wise to advise Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer to abort their attempt at impeaching Trump.

To allow them to go forward with this will only further divide our country.
