#Chris Rock to host ‘SNL’ Season 46 premiere on Oct. 3

Rock on.

For the first time in six years, funnyman Chris Rock, 55, will return to Studio H8 on Oct. 3 to host “Saturday Night Live’s” 46th season.  He will be joined by musical guest Megan Thee Stallion, 25.

NBC made the announcement in a Thursday afternoon tweet with a picture of sticky notes labeled “OCT 3,” “Chris Rock” and “Megan Thee Stallion.”

The gig marks the former cast member’s third time hosting “SNL” — he previously in 1996 and 2014 — and Megan’s first-ever appearance on the sketch show. If that wasn’t enticing enough, Jim Carrey will debut as Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on the episode, which airs just four days after Biden and Donald Trump face off in the first prime-time presidential debate.

This has been a banner month for Rock, who will star in the fourth season of the hit FX series “Fargo,” premiering Sept. 27. Meanwhile, his musical guest’s latest album, “Suga,” has garnered more than 900 million streams to date and spawned this summer’s smash hit and time-time platinum single “Savage,” per an NBC press release.

The entire “SNL” cast will return for the new season, which will adapt to strict COVID-19 guidelines. The late-night show shut down in-person production in March due to the coronavirus but was able to put on three remote episodes with guest stars including Tom Hanks and Brad Pitt.

Both Rock and Megan have been the subject of controversy of late. Rock sparked a fierce backlash earlier this month after blaming Democrats for the coronavirus pandemic, while Megan’s hit single “WAP” outraged online pundits with its racy lyrics.
