#Samsung Galaxy Phones Are Getting Grammarly Installed by Default

Grammarly is one of the internet’s best tools for checking your writing to make sure it’s accurate. Not many people use it on their phones, but that’s about to change. Samsung and Grammarly have announced a partnership that’ll see the grammar checker pre-installed as part of One UI 4.0.

“We’ve always been passionate about bringing consumers experiences that impact their lives in meaningful ways,” says Hyesoon Jeong, VP and Head of Framework R&D Group at Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. “We’re delighted to partner with Grammarly on this new tool to help Samsung users express themselves clearly and confidently in English as they connect with people around the world.”

This may be an issue for some users, as Grammarly will be checking over their text, which might not be something they want. Samsung cited Grammarly’s “user-first security and privacy practices” and the fact that it “holds enterprise-grade attestations and certifications, and places a premium on scalability, uptime, and availability” as benefits, but that may not be enough to make some users happy.

Presumably, there will be an option to disable Grammarly as part of One UI 4.0, though Samsung didn’t specifically say that.

Samsung and Grammarly also announced that Samsung owners will be able to get a free three-month trial of Grammarly Premium, and they’ll be able to continue taking advantage of the free version after that.

The company said that Grammarly will be available on Samsung Galaxy S21 devices first, with more phones to be added in the coming months. That’s likely because the S21 is the first phone to get One UI 4.0.
