#Horimiya Manga to End After a Decade

The Horimiya manga will end in the next issue of Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine, which will release on March 18. As reported by Anime News Network, the announcement was made in the March issue of the magazine. Mangaka Daisuke Hagiwara also tweeted about the announcement.

The manga began in 2011 as an adaptation of HERO’s Hori-san to Miyamura-kun four-panel web manga. The Horimiya manga by Hagiwara has published 15 volumes to date. Square Enix published the latest volume in Japanese in September 2020, while Yen Press published the 14th volume in English in July 2020.

An anime adaptation starring Haruka Tomatsu (Sword Art Online series) as Kyoko Hori and Kouki Uchiyama (My Hero Academia series) as Izumi Miyamura premiered on January 9, while a seven-episode live-action TV drama adaptation premiered on February 16. A live-action film edition consisting of TV drama’s first three episodes and newly-shot scenes was screened for a limited time of two weeks from February 5 this year.

Yen Press publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:

At first glance, the ultra-popular Hori-san seems like a frivolous high school girl, but in reality, she’s plain, pragmatic, and family-oriented. On the other hand, the bespectacled Miyamura-kun comes across as an average, gloomy high school fanboy, but he’s actually an attractive young man who has a bad-boy streak and is covered in piercings and tattoos. When these two unexpectedly similar classmates have a random run-in outside of the classroom, a bubbly, sweet tale of school life begins!
