#Hasbro ‘Poppy’ Doll Sparks Outrage Due To Hidden Button On Privates

Is Hasbro normalizing grooming and facilitating child abuse? Why is there an undisclosed button hidden on the ‘Poppy’ Hasbro doll?

Today, a video of a doll made by Hasbro is doing rounds on Twitter and Instagram because of an inappropriately placed button on the groin area of the toy.

Nowhere on the box does the toy disclose this “feature,” and it has many parents wondering what the heck they were thinking.

  • Was the marketing team trying something new?
  • Did the R&D team think this was a smart move?
  • Are all the conspiracies surrounding child abuse true?

We don’t know the answer to the questions above, but what we do know is that this is inappropriate even if it was only meant to be cute.

Imagine a hypothetical equivalent for boys where they put a button on the genitals of male action figures. Whenever your press this button, the character lets out a moan, or “oohs” and “aahs.” Plus, they don’t say that on the box either.

No matter what way you spin it. It looks incredibly bad to parents and every day people.

Walmart has reportedly removed the product from their digital shelves within 24 hours of this information hitting the web, and the doll is essentially getting scrubbed from the web as all reviews have been removed and the product is deleted. However, you can still find the archived product here.

The conspiracies, concerns, and general distaste for this product are increasing…

One person tweeted, “A child will ‘discover’ this button. reinforces the proposed sex Ed curriculum in schools about self love and exploration. There are no mistakes this is intentional from design to approval to recording to manufacturing to marketing. A lot of people signed off on this feature.”

Another tweeted to Hasbro asking, “Why does your poppy trolls world tour doll have a button where her privates would be and when you press it she makes “gasping” noises. Just saw a woman post a video of her daughters doll and it’s disgusting and disturbing.”

The Hasbro website were the doll is promoted says nothing about the button either. Only that Poppy is a toddler and it’s inspired by the movie.

“Now kids can act out scenes from the movie or make up their own new adventures with this delightful Toddler Poppy doll.”

Hasbro

A hidden button on the private parts of a toddler that children should use to “make up their own adventures”? Wow, this doesn’t sound too good. Will Hasbro pull the product from their shelves or issue a statement? Only time will tell.
