#L’Rain shares “Blame Me” video

The Brooklyn artist’s new album Fatigue is out June 25.

The end of March saw the release of “Two Face,” the first song in nearly four years from Brooklyn artist L’Rain. Listening to that song felt a bit like ascending a staircase in an Escher painting — it was a truly psychedelic cut that was far more interesting than most music claiming that genre. Her newest song is the relatively sedate “Blame Me” that doubles down on L’Rain’s classic jazz influences, and comes with a video directed by Andy Swartz and starring Tinkcolorful as a clown getting ready for her act.

“I am fascinated by clowns’ predilection for entropy and absurdity,” L’Rain said in a statement, “and by their general role as the ultimate icon of emotional complexity (the tears of the clown…). There’s also something about “freaks” that make me feel at home: people who are deemed useless, dangerous, or too strange to understand. Who doesn’t feel misunderstood in this time of social media, social chaos, and social scarcity?”
