#Demon Slayer Movie Hits Over 1 Million Blu-ray and DVD Sales In Japan In 3 Days

Demon Slayer – Kimetsu No Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train is continuing its popularity streak with Blu-ray sales of over one million in Japan within its first three days.

According to Anime News Network, the anime film sold 268,490 limited edition Blu-ray discs and 201,895 regular copies in its first day of the home release, while DVD sales were 115,499 for the limited edition and 218,195 for the regular edition. 

For Day Two, the Blu-ray sales were at 30,007 for the limited edition and 50,881 for the regular edition, while DVD sales were at 20,751 for the limited edition and 71,507 for the regular edition. Finally, Day Three saw the movie scoring 12,549 limited edition and 33,609 regular edition Blu-ray sales, along with 8,609 limited edition and 42,178 regular edition DVD sales.

In total, Mugen Train sold a total of 1,074,170 Blu-ray and DVD sales in three days.

Prior to its Japan home release, Mugen Train broke multiple theatrical records to become the top-grossing movie in Japan, the second top-grossing anime film in the US, and the top film of 2020 worldwide. 

The Demon Slayer manga has also been turning in a formidable performance, with Asahi reporting in April that the series’ print volumes had achieved a total of around 30 billion yen (~$272.2 million) in sales and “greatly helped to expand the overall market size.”
