A group of people were standing on the sidewalk early Sunday when an unknown assailant fired shots from the west alley of the street, striking two women and a man.

CORRECTION (July 24, 2023, 1 a.m. ET): A previous version of this article misstated when six people were killed and 47 others were injured in a mass shooting in a Chicago suburb. It was over the Fourth of July weekend last year, not this month.
