Following a devastating ice storm which crippled the state’s electric grid and prompted residents to go without power or clean water for days, the “Drip Too Hard” rapper announced the Houston Relief GOODR Popup taking place on Sunday (February 28) at Worthing High School from 1 to 5 p.m. The event is to aid those in need with free groceries, water, baby supplies, household items and much more.

Additionally, native Houstonian Megan Thee Stallion has shared a resources bank on her website for those needing assistance from local outlets.
“To find resources or to find ways to support Houston during this time of rebuilding the community join me with #HottiesSupportingHouston click the link in my bio!” she wrote on Instagram Friday (February 26). “More things coming soon ! HOUSTON STRONG.”
The aftermath of the storm left numerous homeowners in Houston with busted pipes and flooded homes. Numerous officials who were on the board of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which manages Texas’ power grid, resigned following the historic storm after facing backlash for lack of preparedness and regulation.
In the midst of the storms, Texas’ junior Senator Ted Cruz briefly left the state to fly to Cancun, Mexico. After an image of the disgraced Senator was shared on social media of him on a plane and landing in the popular resort town, he flew back the next day, not long after other politicians and Hip Hop stars called him out for his hypocrisy in doing more for Texans.
Houstonians aren’t strangers to helping one another out in a time of need. Since 2017 and Hurricane Harvey, numerous artists such as Bun B, Slim Thug, the Relief Gang and more have been on hand to not only provide meals but water, resources and more to assist families. The state has endured at least four major weather events in the last five years from floods, hurricanes and now, ice storms.
