#Greg Olsen retires from NFL to begin Fox Sports career

Greg Olsen is ready to make the full-time transition from the playing field to the broadcast booth.

The longtime NFL tight end announced his retirement Sunday on Fox’s pregame show ahead of the Packers-Buccaneers NFC Championship Game. The three-time Pro Bowler will join the network as its No. 2 game analyst, as The Post’s Andrew Marchand first reported in July.

“(I’m) proud of what I was able to accomplish in this league, proud of the relationships and everything that the game has given me. But sometimes, when it’s time it’s time, and my time in the NFL now has come to an end,” Olsen said. “I’m excited for the next chapter, I’m excited that that chapter involves the FOX family. I’ve got it all out of my system.”

The 35-year-old Olsen is expected to be paired with Kevin Burkhardt next season, slotted behind Fox’s No. 1 pairing of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. He had planned to leave the game for the booth after the 2019 season, but he was lured back by a one-year contract worth $7 million from the Seattle Seahawks.

Olsen worked one game for Fox during a Panthers bye week in 2019, and he also teamed with Burkhardt on XFL telecasts last year.

Olsen spent 14 seasons in the NFL, including nine with the Carolina Panthers (2011-19). He currently ranks fifth in league history in receptions (742) and receiving yards (8,683) among tight ends in the Super Bowl era.
