“That’s the scene where JJ was,” Larry Woodcock told Fox 13, choking up as he looked at the spot where remains were found of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and his sister Tylee Ryan, 17.
“My little man,” he sobbed at the Rexburg ranch belonging to Vallow’s husband, Chad Daybell.
Woodcock and his wife, Kay, were the biological grandparents of JJ, who was later adopted by Lori and a former husband, Charles Vallow — Kay’s brother — who was later murdered.
The grandparents had been the first to alert authorities over fears that their grandson, who had autism, had not been heard from since September.
They made the trip from their home in Louisiana Wednesday after officials confirmed they found the children’s remains after executing a search warrant nine months after the kids went missing.
The grandfather told Fox 13 he was just there to grieve and refused to attack anyone potentially involved.
“I’m not coming in hostility in any way,” he said. “I come with trying to be the peacemaker, and that’s all I want. I just want to be a peacemaker. I want … let’s all get along here.”

Daybell was arrested late Tuesday and charged Wednesday with two felony counts of destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence.
He is currently being held on a $1 million bail, as is Vallow, who was arrested back in February.
