#Gov. Cuomo, de Blasio tell NYPD to be more ‘sensitive’ to paranoid left-wing vandals

For the latest proof that cops just can’t win in this town, consider the fury over the arrest of a young woman accused of multiple acts of graffiti vandalism — with even Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who’s demanded a crackdown on graffiti, sniping from his peanut gallery.

The evidence against Nikki Stone, 18, looks strong, including video that appears to show her using orange paint to disable a downtown NYPD anti-crime camera as part of an “Occupy City Hall” protest late last month, as well as more videos from other angles.

She is also charged in four other incidents from recent weeks, including for allegedly writing graffiti inside the Oculus at the World Trade Center.

But the political kibbutzers complain that the Warrant Squad (as is its habit) used plainclothes officers and an unmarked van for her arrest. Lefties are now imagining that Gestapo-like forces are rounding up protesters illegally. They aren’t, but politicians are worried about upsetting instigators right now.

“We’re in a particular historical moment where there has to be sensitivity where folks are understandably worried about what they’re seeing coming out of Washington about the defense of democratic rights,” Mayor Bill de Blasio blathered.

In other words: If lefty lawbreakers are wallowing in conspiracy theories, the NYPD is supposed to humor them.

Cuomo, meanwhile, called a videotape of the arrest “very disturbing and frightening,” suggesting the police action was “obnoxious” and even “outrageous.”

Then he went for the kill: “It was wholly insensitive to everything that’s going on.” That’s right, Andrew Cuomo, as tough a player as New York politics has seen in decades, was calling out “insensitivity.” The mind reels.

Reality check: Stone was arrested, charged and released without incident or impropriety, without ever even nearing any secret torture chambers. If New York’s leaders really have a problem with that, they might as well quit their jobs and let the “protesters” take over.
