#Giants’ Daniel Jones meets Turf Monster in fall on sure-TD run

Daniel Jones falling on what looked like a clear touchdown run didn’t ultimately trip up the Giants.

The second-year quarterback instead had to settle for an 80-yard dash on first down from the Giants’ 12-yard line that ended with Jones tripping over his own feet with 8:34 to play in the third quarter of Big Blue’s game against the Eagles in Philadelphia on Thursday night. It was the longest run by a quarterback in Giants history.

“He takes off and he is gone! Trying to stay upright and he trips,” NFL Network’s play-by-play man Joe Buck said on the broadcast. Absolutely alone and he trips.”

The Giants ended up scoring four plays later on Wayne Gallman’s 1-yard touchdown run to give his team a 14-10 lead. The 23-year-old Jones had rushed for 204 yards and no scores this season coming into the game, but did find the end zone twice in 2019. Jones ran a 4.81 second 40-yard dash at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine.
