#Ghislaine Maxwell wrapped cellphone in foil to ‘evade detection,’ feds say

Ghislaine Maxwell kept a cellphone wrapped in foil to try to shield her location while hiding out on a sprawling New Hampshire estate, prosecutors revealed Monday.

FBI agents discovered the amateurish attempt at counter-surveillance during a security sweep of the secluded mansion where Maxwell was busted earlier this month, according to papers filed in Manhattan federal court.

While searching the place, the feds “noticed a cell phone wrapped in tin foil on top of a desk, a seemingly misguided effort to evade detection,” prosecutors wrote.

The crude cloaking effort was clearly aimed at law-enforcement and not “the press or the public, which of course would have no ability to trace her phone or intercept her communications,” prosecutors wrote.

That assertion counters a defense claim claim that Maxwell, 53, wasn’t trying to avoid arrest when she moved to the tiny town of Bradford, but was merely trying to get away from “unrelenting and intrusive media coverage, threats, and irreparable reputational harm.”

The prosecution court filing came ahead of a hearing Tuesday at which Maxwell is seeking to be freed on a $5 million bond pending trial over allegations she “groomed” underage girls to be sexually abused by her ex-lover, the late financier and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
