“NYPD arrests suspect in shooting of Denmark tourist”

The man who allegedly shot a tourist from Denmark in a botched mugging on the Upper West Side has been arrested, cops said Tuesday.

Narada Hayles, 36, was picked up by police Monday and charged with attempted murder, assault, attempted robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, according to police.

Hayles is accused of approaching the 31-year-old tourist at West 103rd Street and West End Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Sunday and demanding he turn over his cellphone.

The tourist, who had left a party and was on his way back to a city hostel, balked and kept walking, according to police.

Hayles then allegedly shot the tourist in the back and took off, cops said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside hospital, where he was expected to recover.

The alleged gunman was previously arrested late last month on grand larceny charges, court records show. He also has had three other run-ins with cops for alleged thefts, police said.

The tourist is seen in an ambulance after he was shot in the back early Sunday, Sept. 18.
