George Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter appears next to weeping mom

George Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter stood next to her weeping mom at a press conference Tuesday as the woman recalled how Floyd moved to Minnesota to help support them — and her lawyers demanded that all of the cops involved in his police-brutality case be brought to justice.

“He was a good man — and this is the proof,” said Roxie Washington, the mother of Floyd’s young daughter Gianna, standing next to the little girl in Minneapolis, where Floyd was killed May 25 in the shocking case.

“He loved us so much.”I want people to know this is what those cops took from me,” Washington said.

“Gianna does not have a father. He will never see her grow up, graduate. He will never walk her down the aisle.”

Washington said Floyd had moved to Minneapolis, Minn., from Houston looking for better job opportunities so he could provide for Gianna and herself.

Floyd, 46, died after a cop busting him for an alleged counterfeit $20 bill knelt on his neck for nearly 9 minutes, a horrific incident caught on video and which has sparked national and global protests. Three other officers were at the scene at the time, including two who allegedly knelt on Floyd’s back.

”The pictures last forever. But justice never truly comes in this, and time and time again, we’re fighting these cases,” said one of Washington’s lawyers, Chris Stewart of Atlanta.

“Everyone at home is wondering why riots are happening, why protesting is happening. It is because situations like these don’t get addressed,” he said.

“Nobody is saying the every police officer out there is out to try to kill somebody,” Stewart said. “But when somebody does something, when someone crosses the line, they have to go through the system and be held accountable.

“How is that not fair?”

Justin Miller, a lawyer at Stewart’s firm, added, “Today, we wanted to show the world that George Floyd is not just a name, not just a meme and not just something to be chanted.

“George Floyd was a real person, a good person, and there are people who loved him.’

Those who loved Floyd included former NBA player Stephen Jackson, who was at the press conference.

“I’m here to get justice for my brother,” the ex-New Jersey Nets player said. “We demand it.”
