“Gen V Set Video Provides Sneak Peek at The Boys Spinoff Series”
On Twitter, @Justin3ric shared a video taken from near the set providing an early look at a filming location. The brief clip shows a restaurant with several posters on the side displaying A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) promoting his products. A subsequent photo shared of the wall reveals more posters have been added with many images of Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) vandalized, showcasing the public perception of the secret Supe at this point in Gen V‘s storyline.
This does not necessarily mean that A-Train and Victoria will physically appear on the show, as these posters could just be Easter eggs acknowledging the simultaneous storylines playing out on The Boys. Of course, both characters could very well show up, but it’s unclear at this time exactly which characters from the parent series will be appearing in Gen V. Showrunner Eric Kripke has previously teased that there will be some crossovers to watch out for.
“There’s definitely crossover, and we’re doing our best to design a universe that sees some of the issues and storylines in season 3 hand off to the first season in Varsity,” Kripke told Deadline. “Like there’s a presidential campaign happening in the background of that season, and there’s certain things that are happening at that school that are both in reaction to season 3 of The Boys. There’s Soldier Boy, etcetera, but also some new storylines that are happening in that season of the spinoff that we have to pick up and take into season 4 of the show.”
Gen V Will Satirize the X-Men
The X-Men will serve as a primary source of inspiration for Gen V. The spinoff series follows a group of superheroes in training, still learning how to best use their abilities, much like the mutants in the X-Men under the guidance of Professor X. You can read the official synopsis, per Prime Video, below.
“Gen V is set at America’s only college exclusively for superheroes, run by Vought International. Gen V is an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. It’s part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.”
You can find the first three seasons of The Boys, along with the animated spinoff Diabolical, streaming on Prime Video. Season 4 doesn’t have a release date and neither does Gen V.
