So I stumbled upon this rather interesting manga called Gachiakuta, and after reading a couple of chapters, it really captivated my interest!

A slum where criminals’ descendants live… People beyond the border look down and discriminate against them as “tribal people”. Rudo/Ludo, an orphan boy, lives in the slum with his foster parent, Legt/Regto, and makes a living using his extraordinary physical abilities. However, one day, he was accused of a crime he didn’t commit., and is thrown into the “abyss” that even the slum people fear.

The main character Ludo/Rudo, is an odd one but his heart seems to be in the right place! Spending his time collecting society’s trash and fixing it up, Ludo/Rudo thanks to his father figure Regto, believes that everything has a soul in it, including trash. However, his world is not kind, as not only are objects considered trash once broken, and so too are human beings when they commit a crime. In this world, anyone that commits a crime, or is a descendant of criminals is sent to a section of the town divided by a giant wall. These people are called Tribes Folk! Now the people in the Tribe folk land, once there are to try their best to not commit any crime if a crime is committed, they are thrown down a deep hole known by the people as the Abyss

Ludo/Rudo, framed for the murder of his foster father is then thrown into the abyss, a pit where all thing trash is tossed. It’s here that we learn that the abyss is a host of all types of weird shit, and people are actually living down there, although some parts are toxic and you need a mask to survive. From there he meets up with Engine, who introduces him to the organization that he’s in, Janitors who clean up the contaminated zones. It’s here that we learn that the whole ideal of items having souls turn into actual power, and Ludo/Rudo has the ability to add souls to any object his gloves touch.

The plot is interesting enough and I am intrigued by the two-world dynamic, but it’s the art style that kept me reading! It’s edgy, both it’s the narrative (as you’ll see with the language) and the art, but I like it. So far, all the characters introduced have their own quirk to them which makes their dynamic interesting to follow. It’s a revenge plot but for some reason, I have a feeling with won’t go in that direction.
