#Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’s Emmy Win Has Producers Hoping for Revival

“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’s Emmy Win Has Producers Hoping for Revival”

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee was canceled this year but the show winning an Emmy has ignited hopes for the show to be saved.

It’s been quite the ride for the Full Frontal with Samantha Bee team this year. In July, it was reported that the show had been given the boot with TBS canceling Full Frontal after seven seasons. This was said at the time to be another casualty of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger and came as a bit of a surprise for many fans.

“As we continue to shape our new programming strategy, we’ve made some difficult, business-based decisions,” a TBS spokeswoman said in a statement at the time. “Full Frontal With Samantha Bee will not return to TBS. We are proud to have been the home to Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and thank Sam, and the rest of the Emmy-nominated team for their groundbreaking work. We celebrate this extraordinarily talented cast and crew and look forward to exploring new opportunities to work with them in the future.”

As noted, the series had been Emmy-nominated ahead of its cancelation, giving Bee and the producers one last chance to enjoy the success of Full Frontal. On Saturday, the talk show managed to clinch the win at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards for Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series. The other nominations in the category included Between The Scenes – The Daily Show, RuPaul’s Drag Race Whatcha Packin’ With Michelle Visage, Saturday Night Live Presents: Stories From The Show, and Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen.

Full Frontal Could Be Saved After Emmy Win

It’s possible that Full Frontal with Samantha Bee winning an Emmy will help the series get revived for an eighth season. At least, this is the hope that’s held by producers who found it bittersweet to win the Emmy after the show had been canceled. Per Variety, executive producer Allana Harkin addressed the win and how wonderful it had been to work on the series during its run. She also had many nice things to say about Bee.

“It’s bittersweet. We loved working for Samantha. She was an incredible boss. This particular win that we just had is because she’s the kind of boss who would say, ‘Here’s a crazy idea. What about this?’ And she would mostly say yes. It’s been a dream and a blessing to work for her show. However, one of the best things about Samantha Bee is her leadership, and teaching me all of our co-workers to promote women, to give them leadership roles, to have them go further. Although our voice is silenced, our message carries onward. I’m so happy to be part of this wonderful journey and it’s not stopping just because we’re off the air.”

While not thrilled about the show getting axed, Harkin is also feeling a bit optimistic about Full Frontal possibly moving to a new network or streaming home in light of the Emmy win.

“Maybe someone else can pick it up. We have a whole staff that’s looking for a job. In this business you have to be pretty much open to anything.”
