#Florida’s 1st snow park cuts hours over shortage of flakes

Snow way!

Florida’s first snow park announced it was curbing its hours just days after opening — due to a shortage of flakes.

Officials at Snowcat Ridge in Dade City said the park has seen an avalanche of interest since opening on Friday, and “misestimated the amount of snow production” required to allow guests to play inside its “Arctic Igloo” attraction.

“To address the snow volume inside of the Arctic Igloo, we are limiting the hours of the park so we can concentrate our snow production…,” the park said in a statement on Facebook Monday.

The 10,000-square-foot dome, which features a snow play area and a bunny slope for toddlers, shuttered for a day after the park opened so it could be filled up with the right amount of white stuff.

That attraction, as well as the park’s Alpine Village and its 400-foot-long snow tubing hill, will be opened under the new reduced hours.

CEO Benjamin Nagengast has previously said that operating the winter wonderland in the Sunshine State heat would be a tricky feat, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
