“Since day one, President Donald Trump has put America first,” said Nuñez. “His pro-growth, pro-jobs agenda has ushered in historically low unemployment, record job creation, higher wages and rising homeownership.
“The president is fighting to rescue American jobs and industries for places like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico, jobs that were needlessly shipped overseas,” she continued.
“He’s defended our religious freedom, stood with democratic allies like Colombia and shown unwavering while confronting tyrants in countries like Venezuela, Cuba, China and Nicaragua.”
Nuñez, the daughter of Cuban immigrants, warned that prosperity does not lie in the political ideals her parents fled.
“For my parents, the difficult decision to flee Communist Cuba came when the Castro regime abolished religious freedom,” she said. “Daily, the radical left [in America] chisels away at the freedoms we cherish. They peddle dangerous ideologies, cower to global progressives and normalize socialism to dismantle our Constitution.
“Let me assure you, socialism doesn’t offer opportunity. Socialism deprives.”
Trump will keep America from straying down that path, Nuñez said.
Tuesday’s endorsement marked the completion of a 180-degree turn from Nuñez, who in the 2016 election cycle bashed then-candidate Trump while endorsing Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a rival for the GOP presidential nomination.
“Wake up Florida voters, Trump is the biggest con-man there is,” Nuñez wrote in a since-deleted 2016 tweet, according to The Tampa Bay Times, along with hashtags including “#supportsKKK” and “#nevertrump.”
But she has since come around, and now serves as co-chair of Latinos for Trump, a group boosting the re-election bid.
