A flash flood watch is in effect for the lower Hudson valley and a swath of northeast New Jersey Wednesday — just over a week after Tropical Storm Isaias ripped through the region.

“Torrential downpours possible,” the National Weather Service tweeted Wednesday morning.

In New York State, Rockland County as well as northern and southern Westchester County are under the watch, according to the weather service.

The flash flood watch, resulting from a slow-moving thunderstorm system expected to bring heavy rain and flooding, has been issued for all or part of 16 New Jersey counties, NJ.com reported.

The only counties in the Garden State not included under the watch are Atlantic, Cape May, Hudson, Ocean and Sussex. The watch begins at noon in Bergen, Essex, Passaic and Union counties, and at 11 a.m. elsewhere.

While thunderstorms are predicted in New York City, it’s not currently included under the flash flood watch.

Still, a heat advisory remains in effect in the Big Apple until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

“A hot and humid airmass continues in place across the local area today,” the weather service tweeted. “Heat advisories are in effect for much of the area for heat index values in the mid 90s.”

Cooling centers are open for those looking to beat the heat, the city’s Office of Emergency Management tweeted.
