#Five people shot during Brooklyn vigil as NYC gun violence surges

Five people were shot during a late-night vigil in Brooklyn — and a total 17 were injured by gun play citywide amid a recent spate of shootings, police said.

A 24-year-old woman was shot in the left arm, a 29-year-old man grazed in the head and a 39-year-old woman shot in the back just before 11 p.m. Monday on Sterling Street near Brooklyn Avenue, cops confirmed. All three were taken to Kings County Hospital by private means.

A 29-year-old woman grazed in the head and a 30-year-old man shot in the torso were taken to the same hospital by EMS, police said.

All five are listed in stable condition.

Police said the victims were attending a vigil, but had no further details on the gathering or what led up to the shooting.

A total of 11 shootings, with 17 total victims, occurred in New York City on Monday, cops confirmed Tuesday morning.

That includes at least two other people shot late Monday, cops said.

A man was shot on Morrison Avenue near East 172nd Street in the Bronx around 8:40 p.m., and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

In Staten Island, a 28-year-old man was shot multiple times in the back and stomach on Jersey Street near Layton Avenue around 11:40 p.m. and was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition, cops said.

At least two more shootings occurred early Tuesday.

A 26-year-old man was shot in the buttocks around 1:40 a.m. on Woodycrest Avenue near Jerome Avenue in the Bronx, close to Yankee Stadium. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Hours later, at 7:45 a.m., a man fired multiple shots at a 24-year-old victim inside a playground on 12th Street near 40th Avenue in Queens.

He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition. The motive was not immediately known.
