#Five Jets have made big early training-camp impression

The Jets are through the first two weeks of training camp and now will be entering the preseason phase, with games against the Giants, Packers and Eagles coming up. They also will have joint practices with the Packers and Eagles in the coming weeks.

Through the first two weeks of camp, there have been some players that have stood out and either solidified what the Jets believed of them or added to it. Here is a look at five players who have jumped out during the first two weeks of training camp:

Carl Lawson, DE

The Jets targeted Lawson in free agency and landed him with a three-year, $45 million contract in March. The 26-year-old has looked like a wise investment. Lawson’s quickness around the edge is eye-opening. He seems to be in the backfield constantly, harassing quarterback Zach Wilson and blowing up running plays. Lawson is a tough assignment for tackles. He is on the shorter side for defensive ends, at 6-foot-2, and that can give him an advantage with a low center of gravity. Lawson has devastating speed and impressive pass-rush moves. The Jets not only love what Lawson is adding to the defense, but also what he is doing for second-year left tackle Mekhi Becton, who is matched up with Lawson every day. The Jets feel that facing Lawson is only going to sharpen Becton’s skills.

Elijah Moore, WR

No one has turned more heads in camp than Moore, the rookie second-round pick from Mississippi. The Jets were excited about landing Moore in the draft, but even they have been blown away by how well he has done, in the spring and in training camp. Moore makes a play every day and never seems to drop a pass. Moore will have a huge role on this team as a rookie and could be the playmaker the Jets have spent years searching for.

Morgan Moses, RT

The Jets added Moses in late June, so he was not with them for organized team activities, but he has made his presence felt early in camp. Moses is a technician and that is clear when you watch him in 1-on-1 drills against defensive ends. Moses’ footwork is top notch and you can see he carries himself as a professional. Moses should be a great influence on the Jets’ young offensive linemen on the left side — Becton and Alijah Vera-Tucker. Moses has been durable his whole career and gives the Jets’ offensive line a dimension they missed on the right side last year.

Isaiah Dunn, CB

You may have heard the Jets are young at cornerback. Dunn is in that group at 22 years old, but he has impressed the coaches with his approach. Dunn is an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State, so he started at the bottom of the depth chart. He has done enough already to get time with the starting defense this past week. The Jets gave Dunn $185,000 in guaranteed money, a very high amount for an undrafted free agent, so they knew he was something special, but he has been even better. Don’t be surprised if Dunn works his way into a big role this season.

Bryce Huff, DE/OLB

Huff impressed last year in training camp, making the team as an undrafted free agent. He played in 14 games and had two sacks in a limited role. Huff has continued to impress this offseason and is winning over the new coaching staff. Huff seems to always be in the backfield and makes plays nearly every day. Huff has played with the starting defense and there is a good shot the coaches are scheming some way to get him on the field more this season.
