#Final Fantasy XI Mobile Reboot Canceled Unceremoniously 

Final Fantasy XI Reboot was first announced for mobile devices back in 2015, and all of that work has ended with the MMORPG’s cancellation. Developed in partnership with Nexon and Square Enix, Final Fantasy XI R was apparently facing quality concerns, so the plug was finally pulled.

Gamebiz.jp confirmed the cancellation, reporting that both companies determined that the reboot’s quality wasn’t up to the standards of the Final Fantasy series from a creative angle and according to the expectations of fans. Development staff working on the title have been reallocated to other projects.
