#Family mourns slain innocent bystander in Queens

The Queens woman fatally shot when she was caught in the crossfire of two warring gangs was a devoted mother whose “greatest joy was her family,” grief-stricken relatives said Saturday as they urged an end to the senseless violence plaguing their neighborhood.

Gudelia Vallinas, 37 was out shopping for her son and daughter when she was fatally struck in the head by gunfire around 8:15 p.m. Friday, at the intersection of Broadway and 48th Street, cops and her family said. Her killers were two gangs who have been feuding in the Woodside Houses, sources told The Post.

“We have to thank God. It was an accident. We need to forgive these people,” said father-in-law Miguel Vallinas. “I don’t feel hate towards the people who did this.”

He continued: “The only thing we want is more control of weapons in this area…”It’s really sad. Really sad.”

“She is in good hands, in God’s hands now,” he continued, adding that it’s unclear yet if she’ll be buried in the family’s native Mexico.

The victim’s brother-in-law cut the interview short because the family was grieving. Relatives said Gudelia lived in the area for most of her life, and cleaned houses for a living.

“The kids know right now…right now we’re still trying to comprehend what’s happened,” the brother-in-law added.

Police got a 911 call Friday night from a resident of the public housing complex, saying that about five or six teenagers in two groups were exchanging gunfire as they chased each other through the building, according to sources.

“I heard the gunshots, like 5 or 6 gunshots. I hear somebody screaming there’s a lady down on the floor,” witness Zal Alradai said.

“And then I came out, and all I see was blood on the floor. It was so loud, all I heard was pop, pop, pop, pop, pop … it was unbelievable. All you heard was cops coming like crazy,” the witness said.

When the shootout spilled onto the street, Vallinas became an unintended target.

She was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital, cops said.

A neighbor who heard the shots blamed the violence on the city’s controversial bail reform measure.

Residents on Saturday begged for more cops in the area.

“A lot of things have been going on, shootings, robberies, there is crime everywhere and it’s too much. And they’re trying to take the cops off the street? We need the cops on the street. Stop and frisk should happen,” Natasha Jones said.
