#Ex-Texas mayor says wife was fired after he called residents ‘lazy’

The ex-Texas mayor who slammed his constituents as lazy following the epic winter storm earlier this week — which knocked out power and heat to many residents — claims his wife was fired over his blistering comments.

Tim Boyd, the former mayor of Colorado City, doubled down on his remarks from Tuesday — but said his wife shouldn’t have been punished for “defending me.”

“The anger and harassment you have caused my wife and family is so undeserved….my wife was laid off of her job based off the association people gave to her and the business she worked for,” Boyd wrote in the since-deleted Facebook post obtained by the Abilene Reporter-News.

“She’s a very good person and was only defending me! But her to have to get fired from her job over things I said out of context is so horrible.”

Boyd ripped residents of his tiny city, about 250 miles west of Dallas as they grappled with power outages and water shortages amid freezing temperatures after the deadly winter storm swept through.

“If you have no water you… think outside of the box to survive and supply water to your family,” the former mayor wrote in the initial post. “If you were sitting at home in the cold because you have no power and are sitting there waiting for someone to come rescue you because your lazy is direct result of your raising!”

He later claimed that he had resigned prior to the comments, which he said were made as a private citizen.

Boyd’s wife Casey worked as an administrative assistant secretary within the local school system, the Daily Mail reported, citing her Linkedin page.

Boyd apologized for “the wording and some of the phrases that were used” in his first post, saying he’s received threats.

“I would never want to hurt the elderly or anyone that is in true need of help to be left to fend for themselves,” he wrote. “I was only making the statement that those folks that are too lazy to get up and fend for themselves but are capable should not be dealt a handout.”
