Travis Brooks, 35, was arrested Tuesday on charges that include rape and abuse of a vulnerable adult in connection to the incident at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center.
Authorities began investigating Brooks, who was previously employed at the hospital, after a patient had money stolen from her wallet while having a procedure done in April.
They identified Brooks as a suspect and learned he had been taking photos of patients’ credit cards, authorities said.
Through executing several search warrants, they uncovered a video filmed by Brooks that shows him sexually assaulting a patient who was unconscious in December 2019, police said.
In addition to the sexual offenses, Brooks also faces charges for theft and misdemeanor drug possession.
Brooks, who was previously charged with assault in July 2019 in a separate case, was being held without bond Wednesday on the sex charges while he awaiting a hearing.
