Brett Favre’s weekly spot on ESPN Milwaukee is on pause.

Favre had been slated to appear on the radio station to talk about the Packers on Monday mornings with Jen Lada, Gabe Neitzel and his former Green Bay teammate Mark Chmura, but those spots are on the backburner as the Mississippi welfare scandal in which the NFL legend allegedly received or steered millions of dollars.

A spokesperson for Good Karma Brands, which operates ESPN Radio in many cities (including New York), confirmed to Front Office Sports that the Favre spots are on hold.

The 52-year-old Favre has not been charged with a crime in the scandal and has denied knowing that the money came from federal welfare funds that were misallocated by his home state.

He received $1.1 million in 2017 and 2018 to give speeches that were never ultimately delivered. He has since returned that money. Favre also lobbied for $5 million to go towards a new volleyball arena at his alma mater Southern Mississippi, where his daughter was playing on the team at the time.

Favre’s attorney has acknowledged that the former star quarterback was questioned by the FBI in the matter.

Investigators have said that more than $70 million in welfare funds were misspent by Mississippi.

Earlier this week, John Davis, who was Mississippi’s welfare director during the period of malfeasance, pled guilty to federal fraud charges. NBC reported that there was a potential cooperation agreement attached to the deal. Davis ultimately pled guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud and theft.

“At Davis’s direction, [Mississippi’s welfare agency] provided federal funds to two nonprofit organizations and then directed the two nonprofit organizations to fraudulently award contracts to various entities and individuals for social services that were never provided,” the Justice Department said a release announcing the news.
