#Man struck by delivery truck in Coney Island

A 73-year-old man was critically injured when he was struck by a delivery truck Saturday in Coney Island, police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was crossing Mermaid Avenue near West 33rd Street at about 12:40 p.m. when was hit by the “box truck,” an NYPD spokeswoman said.

EMS transported him to Lutheran Hospital where he was being treated for a head injury.

He remained in critical condition Saturday evening, police said.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene, and no charges have been filed.

The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad was probing the incident.
