#Elizabeth Warren casts election as COVID-19 reckoning in 2020 DNC remarks

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren used her Democratic National Committee speech on Wednesday to encourage voters to back Joe Biden in November — an election she cast as a referendum on the handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

“COVID-19 was [President] Trump’s biggest test,” she said in pre-taped remarks. “He failed miserably.”

Warren cited both America’s staggering coronavirus death toll, and the economic devastation in its wake.

“This crisis is bad, and it didn’t have to be this way,” she said. “This crisis is on Donald Trump, and the Republicans who enabled him. On Nov. 3rd, we will hold them all accountable.

“We all need to be in the fight to get Joe and Kamala [Harris, Biden’s running mate] elected. And after November, we need to stay in the fight to get big things done.”

Warren was among the final 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls to wave the white flag, suspending her campaign in early March after failing to even win her adopted homestate in a dismal showing on Super Tuesday — the same primary that resuscitated Biden’s left-for-dead bid.

Despite leaning farther left than the more moderate eventual nominee, Warren endorsed Biden in mid-April, and was quickly considered a frontrunner to be his running mate — with even President Trump predicting the pairing.

Warren even threw aside her open disdain for deep-pocketed donors’ sway over politics to host a hoity-toity fundraiser for Biden.

She also publicly stated that Biden’s denial of sexual misconduct allegations levied against him by a former aide was “credible and convincing” — a sentiment that even Biden’s eventual running mate, Kamala Harris, disagreed with.
