Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Arcane: League of Legends are among five new nominees for the “Best Adaptation Award” at the 2022 The Game Awards. This will be the first year the category is introduced and winners will be revealed live on December 8, 2022. 

In addition to Cyberpunk and Arcane, the other nominees for Best Adaptation include The Cuphead Show, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Uncharted.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners premiered on Netflix September 13, 2022 with a total of 10 episodes. It is headlined by a voice cast that includes KENN as David Martinez, Aoi Yuuki as Lucy Kushinada, Hiroki Touchi as Maine, Michiko Kaiden as Dorio, Takako Honda as Kiwi, Wataru Takagi as Pilar, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Rebecca, Kazuhiko Inoue as Faraday, Yurika Hino as Gloria, and Kenjirou Tsuda as Ripperdoc.

The production staff consists of Hiroyuki Imaishi (Promare, Kill la Kill, Gurren Lagann) as director, Masahiko Otsuka (Promare, Gurren Lagann) as assistant director, and Yoh Yoshinari (BNA: Brand New Animal and Little Witch Academia director) and Yuuto Kaneko (BNA: Brand New Animal animation director) as character designers. Trigger is handling the animation production and original Cyberpunk game developer CD Projekt is the main production company.  

Other staff members include Yoshiki Usa (Working Buddies!, SSSS.DYNAZENON creative producer) as series screenwriter, Usa and Otsuka as scriptwriters, and Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill video game series) as music composer. Cyberpunk 2077 Business Development Director Rafał Jaki is the showrunner and executive producer.

Arcane is a television series based on the popular League of Legends multiplayer online battle game. It premiered on Netflix with nine total episodes on November 6, 2021. French animation studio Fortiche was in charge of the animation production under the creative supervision of Riot Games. Production of a second season has begun with an estimated release date sometime in 2023. 

The 2022 Game Awards will be available for free on all major digital, social, and gaming platforms around the world. The first year of the award was held in 2014.
