#Early photo shows Ghislaine Maxwell with her husband-to-be

An early photo of Jeffrey Epstein cohort Ghislaine Maxwell standing beside her then-soon-to-be husband Scott Borgerson at a conference in Iceland emerged Wednesday.

Maxwell, 58, and then-married tech CEO Borgerson, 44, are beaming in the shot snapped in October 2013 at the inaugural Arctic Circle assembly in Reykjavik, Iceland, the Daily Mail reported.

They met for the first time at the annual conference, which focuses on the preservation of the Arctic, and featured speakers that year including then-US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, according to the New York Times and the organization’s Web site.

In the photo, Borgerson clutches a wine glass, his gold wedding band on full display, and is wearing a pin-striped suit, red tie and pocket square. Maxwell is donning a blazer, white blouse and a long strand of pearls.

Soon after the meeting, Borgerson and his wife, the mother of his two children, would divorce after more than a decade of marriage, records show.

Borgerson, who founded CargoMetrics, a maritime innovation company that studies shipping patterns, was moderating a discussion about “Business in the Arctic” at the 2013 conference, the Times reported.

Maxwell, who had launched and appointed herself CEO of the ocean conservation group TerraMar Project, spoke at the assembly.

TerraMar, which had no offices and gave no grants, largely served to rebrand the British socialite’s image, the Times reported.

Friends of Maxwell told the paper she was instantly smitten with the former Coast Guard, who was 14 years her junior, calling him “hot” and “brilliant.”

The pair tied the knot in 2016. After their marriage, Maxwell transferred “the majority of her assets into a trust” controlled by Borgerson.

In 2019, the same year Epstein killed himself in jail while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, all assets in the trust, then worth $22.5 million, were distributed to her husband, according to Manhattan federal court papers.

Maxwell was jailed earlier this year on a six-count indictment alleging she procured underage girls for Epstein and helped abuse them.

In Maxwell’s bail application, Borgerson, whose name was redacted from the documents, described their idyllic life living in an oceanfront mansion in Manchester-by-the-sea, Mass., before her July 2 arrest.

He has agreed to co-sign a $22.5 million bond that the couple says represents the entirety of their assets and is part of a $28.5 million bail package, in a desperate bid to get her released from federal lock up, according to court papers.

She has pleaded not guilty.
