#Drew Barrymore Credits “Platonic” Friend Adam Sandler as Her Best On-Screen Kiss

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler are friendship goals.

Barrymore recently stopped by Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. During a game, the late-night host asked Barrymore: “Who’s been your best on-screen kiss?” The actress replied, “I mean, I love that Adam Sandler and I are so platonic. We never dated, his wife Jackie [Sandler] is my dear friend.”

She continued: “But, I love being in films with him because I think we’re representing something bigger than hot sexual chemistry. We’re representing true admiration of another person.”

Cohen then noted that he loved their kiss scene in the rom-com The Wedding Singer.

The pair have also appeared together in 50 First Dates and Blended.

Barrymore and Sandler have stayed close in real life, and their families have even watched 50 First Dates together. In 2020, they recreated their roles from the beloved film in a sketch for Barrymore’s talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show. The sketch saw their characters Lucy (Barrymore) and Henry (Sandler) in the present day, with Henry re-telling Lucy about their lives together as her character has amnesia in the film.

Last year, Barrymore revealed news of Sandler’s highly anticipated Happy Gilmore 2, a sequel to the 1996 comedy.

“This just in, I have breaking news — I’ll just say this from my source, that it is ‘in process,’” the actress said of the response she received from Sandler answering the rumors that Happy Gilmore 2 was in the works.

Elsewhere in the Watch What Happens Live appearance, Barrymore noted how Steven Spielberg, who she worked with on E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, was her favorite director she’s worked with and her Charlie’s Angels co-star Cameron Diaz was her first famous friend after meeting at a “coffee house” when they were teenagers.
