There’s no stopping Drake’s sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy, and the 6 God is looking to capitalize on the momentum. According to an article by Variety, Drake has submitted CLB for several categories at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

The report states Certified Lover Boy could be in the running for album of the year while several tracks off the album are hoping to compete for other awards. Drake’s CLB viral hit “Way 2 Sexy” featuring Future and Young Thug is aiming to be in the Best Rap Performance category, while “Girls Want Girls” featuring Lil Baby is in the mix for Best Melodic Rap Performance. “No Friends in the Industry” has been submitted for Best Rap Song.

Drake dragged the Grammys again last year when The Weeknd was royally snubbed from all the awards. The Canadian megastar took to his Instagram Story to motivate his peers not to spend so much time on all the snubs and instead create something new.

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artist that exist now and the ones that come after,” he said. “It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just won’t change their ways. The other day I said @theweeknd was a lock for either album or song of the year along with countless other reasonable assumptions and it just never goes that way. This is a great time for somebody to start something new that we can build up overtime and pass on to the generations to come.”

Drake also dissed the Grammys during his acceptance speech for “God’s Plan” winning Best Rap Song in 2019. Award show producers cut Drake off after he claimed awards hold no value.

“We play an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport,” he said. “You already won if you have people singing your songs word for word, if they’re singing in your hometown. You’re already winning, you don’t need this right here.”

Drake’s change of heart may come as a result of the crazy numbers that CLB is pulling in. The album has maintained its position at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 despite losing to NBA Youngboy’s Sincerely, Kentrell and Young Thug’s Punk.

According to Billboard, CLB is expected to move 73,513 copies this week, giving Drake the top spot once again for a fifth time.
