Fans around the world can’t get enough of Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO, and here in the United States the film has just surpassed another major milestone: $30 million at the box office, making it the fifth-highest grossing anime film of all-time in the U.S.

 

The latest weekend count from Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO puts the film at $30,859,433 at the domestic box office, bumping fellow Dragon Ball blockbuster Dragon Ball Super: Broly from the top five. That film, which opened in 2019, went on to gross $30.7M at the U.S. box office during its run.

 

 

Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO opened on August 19 in the U.S., and claimed the #1 spot at the global box office in its opening weekend. The film marks the widest theatrical release ever for Crunchyroll in North America, with 3,900 screens booked, including premium formats like IMAX, as well as the first global release from Crunchyroll, in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

With Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO breaking into the top ranks, Crunchyroll now has ten of the top 20 highest-grossing anime films in U.S. history (some were under the Funimation brand at the time). Here’s the current top five, according to Box Office Mojo:

  2. 2. Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- the Movie: Mugen Train
