#Ghislaine Maxwell whines about ‘onerous’ jail conditions, wants out of solitary

Ghislaine Maxwell is whining about the “onerous” conditions she’s facing at a federal lockup in Brooklyn — including 24/7 camera surveillance and guards taking notes on her every move, according to court documents filed Monday.

The motion from Maxwell’s attorneys asks that she be moved out of solitary confinement and into the general population at the Metropolitan Detention Center ahead of her trial on charges she helped Jeffrey Epstein exploit and abuse underage girls.

“It has become apparent that the BOP’s treatment of Ms. Maxwell is a reaction to the circumstances surrounding the pretrial detention and death of Mr. Epstein,” the lawyers argued in the filing.

“As a result of what occurred with Mr. Epstein, Ms. Maxwell is being treated worse than other similarly situated pretrial detainees.”

The multi-millionaire pedophile was found hanging inside his federal Manhattan jail cell on Aug.10, 2019, shortly after he was busted on sex-trafficking charges. Two corrections officers were later accused of falsifying records and failing to check on him the night he committed suicide.

But, unlike her ex-boyfriend, Maxwell, 58, “has never been suicidal and was never diagnosed as exhibiting risk factors for suicide,” her lawyers wrote.

Still, until recently, the British socialite was under suicide watch, which included being woken up every few hours and being forced to wear special clothes, the filing states.

“Her cell is [still] searched multiple times a day and she has been forced to undergo numerous body scans,” her attorneys said.

Since arriving at the Brooklyn lockup over a month ago, Maxwell “has been held under uniquely onerous conditions,” her lawyers claimed.

“She continues to be surveilled 24 hours a day by security cameras and by multiple prison guards, many of whom do not appear to be regular MDC personnel,” the filing states.

“These prison guards constantly observe Ms.Maxwell and take notes on her every activity, including her phone conversations with defense counsel.”

All of this is impacting her ability to prep for her defense, the lawyers claimed.

They asked that their client be “released to the general population and be granted the privileges given to other pretrial detainees” and for her to receive more computer time to review the mass of documents in her case.

The motion also asks the government to reveal the identities of the three victims Maxwell is accused of grooming and abusing in the 18-page indictment she has been charged with.

“Maxwell cannot prepare for or receive a fair trial without this information,” the attorneys wrote.
