#Amazon worker told to ‘keep delivering’ during tornado: report

An Illinois Amazon driver was threatened with termination if she stopped delivering packages during the deadly tornado that recently ripped through the state and killed six other workers at a distribution facility.

The unidentified Amazon driver was told to “keep delivering” amid the wails of emergency sirens before a tornado hit the area on Dec. 10, according to Bloomberg.

“Radio’s been going off,” the driver wrote in a text obtained by Bloomberg News.

“Keep delivering,” came the response from her supervisor. “We can’t just call people back for a warning unless Amazon tells us to.”

When the driver suggested that she return to base, the supervisor warned that she could get fired for failing to complete her delivery run.

“Having alarms going off next to me and nothing but locked building (sic) around me isn’t sheltering in place,” texted the desperate driver. “That’s waiting to turn this van into my casket.”

The texts emerged as workers questioned the company’s commitment to the safety of their employees as workers at an Amazon facility in Edwardsville were told to shelter in a bathroom during the deadly twister which flattened the building and killed six employees.
