The 2022 BET Awards are right around the corner, and Doja Cat is looking to add more hardware to her collection. On Wednesday (June 1), BET announced the nominees for this year’s ceremony, and the Planet H.E.R. rapper leads the way with six nominations for the night.

Doja is nominated for best female Hip Hop artist, best female R&B/pop artist, album of the year, BET Her for “Woman,” and video of the year and best collaboration for “Kiss Me More,” featuring SZA. Doja Cat is also this year’s only artist to be nominated in both R&B/pop and Hip Hop categories.

While the 26-year-old star leads the way with six nominations, Drake follows right behind her with four nominations. On the other hand, Baby Keem, Silk Sonic, Chlöe, Future, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Ye (formerly Kanye West), Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby, Mary J. Blige and Tems each received three nominations.

For album of the year, Doja will be going head-to-head with H.E.R.’s Back of My Mind and Kanye West’s Donda, all of which were nominated in the same category at the 2022 Grammy Awards. Tyler, the Creator and Jazmine Sullivan will also be stepping up to the plate in that category with Call Me If You Get Lost and the deluxe version of Heaux Tales, respectively.

Taraji P. Henson will be hosting the 2022 BET Awards live Sunday, June 26, at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. Doja’s Planet Her was a breakout pop hit for the superstar, however, her next album is going to be vastly different.

“I’ve rapped since the beginning, and I really couldn’t even sing that well to begin with—I got a lot better,” Doja told Elle in an interview recently. “I use my voice as a tool to create these worlds, and it’s fine if people think that I can’t rap.”
