The shot rang off a few minutes before midnight outside of the 40th Precinct on Alexander Avenue in Mott Haven, police said.
The bullet traveled through the windshield and lodged in the divider between the back seats.
Shattered glass had hit one of the cops in the face, causing a minor cut, police said.
Dozens of cops were posted outside of the precinct following the shooting.
It was not immediately clear if it was a stray bullet or if the police were intentionally targeted.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.
The incident follows a recent uptick in shootings across the city.
Residents told The Post they couldn’t distinguish the gunshot among the constant popping of fireworks during the July 4th holiday.
“Shots? I been hearing shots all damn night,” one bystander said. “With all these fireworks going off you’d never know.”
