#Doctor Detective Delays 4th Episode, Makes Ayane Sakura Climb Mount Takao

The fourth episode of Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective is going on leave until January 22 JST (effectively January 23 at 12:30 AM JST). 

January 15 JST will instead have “Ameku Takao no Kyuushinbi” (“Ameku Takao’s No-consultation Day”), which sees Ameku Takao voice actor Ayane Sakura aiming to reach Mount Takao’s peak and pray that Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective becomes a hit. A sneak peek of that is included in the Episode 4 preview.

Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective premiered on January 1 JST (effectively January 12 at 12 AM JST). The TV anime is based on the book series written by Mikito Chinen and illustrated by Noizi Ito, with the first two episodes having original material written by Chinen. The titular Takao Ameku is a brilliant doctor at Tenikai General Hospital’s special department that deals with tricky-to-diagnose cases.

The first Ameku Takao book was released in October 2014, and 13 more volumes were published by Shinchosha between then and 2022. In October 2023, Jitsugyo no Nihonsha announced that it would be releasing three new volumes and 13 kanzenbans across seven consecutive months. Another new entry, Entrapped in the Poisoned Prison: Ameku Takao’s Crime Karte, was released in October 2024 to commemorate the series’ 10th anniversary.

An Ameku Takao’s Detective Kare manga adaptation drawn by Hiroki Ohara ran from 2016 to 2018 and was collected into four tankoubon volumes. A Kodansha-published manga adaptation of the Angel of Death in the Sphere volume by Eri Takanashi began in 2024.
