#Disneyland raises ticket prices, citing ‘strong’ demand

Disney calls it the “Happiest Place on Earth,” but your bank account may beg to differ.

The Mouse House said it is hiking the price of most of its tickets to the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks, citing “strong” demand, following a 15-month stretch during the pandemic where the park was either shuttered or reopened at limited capacity.

The Anaheim, California-based theme park said it is raising its single-day ticket price for the most popular times to a whopping $164 for admission to one park.

While Disney did not change its cheapest ticket, which costs $104 for a one-day, one-park ticket, the company said that price tag is only available on the park’s least popular days, like weekdays when school is in session.

That marks a 6.5 percent increase over the price of top-tier tickets previously, according to pricing data collected by Disney travel website LaughingPlace.com.

A ticket called the “park hopper” pass, which allows customers to enter one theme park a day, jumped to $224 for a peak time ticket, while a two-day park hopper pass, which used to cost $290, is now $319, up nearly 9 percent.

Disney said with the price changes, the resort is “offering guests more ticket choices to meet a variety of budgets as it moves closer to dynamic pricing designed to spread visitation throughout the weeks, months and year.”

Elsewhere, Disney hiked the price of parking by 20 percent to $30. The price changes take hold in March.

Overall, ticket prices are getting hiked between 3 percent and 9 percent, depending on the ticket type, length of stay and time of year the customer visits.

It’s the first ticket price hike at Disneyland since before the pandemic; increases went into effect in February 2020, shortly before the parks shut down.
