#Devonté Hynes Joins NYU’s Clive Davis Institute as Spring 2021 Artist-in-Residence

Devonté Hynes (aka Blood Orange) will join NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music as their Spring 2021 Artist-in-Residence. The residency kicks off Monday (February 22) at 9 p.m. Eastern, when Hynes will host a virtual Q&A moderated by Chair of the Clive Davis Institute, Jason King. The conversation will touch on Hynes’ career, artistic process, and more. You can RSVP for the free, public event here.

During the residency, Hynes will mentor students throughout the spring semester, hosting workshops and talks discussing his body of work and breaking down his compositions. “I’m excited to meet students, witness their creative process, and see how I can be of assistance to them,” Hynes said in a press release. “It’s going to be as much of a learning experience for me as it is for them and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Jason King added:

“Dev Hynes is one of the great polymaths in contemporary recorded music. He’s not only a gifted musician—he’s a performer, producer, songwriter, film composer and visual innovator, among his many talents. Given our mission to train creative music entrepreneurs who are well-rounded and holistic in their approach to the industry, there’s nobody more suited to the task of mentoring students to embrace the full range of their artistic talents.”

Hynes’ last studio album as Blood Orange was 2018’s Negro Swan. The following year, Hynes released the mixtape Angel’s Pulse.
